North Carolina Adopts the 2009 Federal Food Code – effective 9/1/12
The Raleigh News and Observer ran an article on North Carolina’s adoption of the 2009 Food Code that went into effect on September 1, 2012. Of note, is the fact that the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services has been granted the statutory authority to issue variances to the Code as adopted if the Department “determines that the issuance of the variance will not result in a health hazard or nuisance condition.” If your company finds any issue with the North Carolina Food Code that you may want to seek a variance on, please communicate that to staff.
