Study: Retailers share swipe fee savings with consumers
A new study by economist Robert Shapiro shows retailers have passed along the majority of the savings — billions of dollars — from debit card swipe fee reform to their customers, resulting in increased consumer spending and job creation. But the study also shows benefits for consumers and the economy could have been much greater if the Federal Reserve had set its cap on debit swipe fees lower as directed by Congress. Full story.
